Be Cool. Not Cold !!

Although winter is a great time to experience breathtaking landscapes, it can also be hazardous for people who are unprepared for the elements. Having the proper clothing and being aware of winter hazards are both important parts of being prepared. In this guide, we offer helpful advice on how to dress for winter, whether you're skiing, snowshoeing, ice fishing, working outdoors or just shoveling the driveway. We’ll also cover some basic information on dangers like frostbite and hypothermia.

Shark Explore-R Helmet

Recently we were fortunate enough to get our hands on Shark's Explore-R helmet . Made from carbon fiber and sporting a configurable shield system, it stands out from the rest of the dual sport helmets.

With a clear finish over the carbon black fiber and no graphics any flaws will stand out immediately. The Explore-R that we received has none. Plastic bits are well trimmed with no flash left on them, the vents open and close easily and shield operation is smooth. This helmet probably has the smoothest and most useful internal sun visor in production. Even after weeks of daily riding in all kinds of weather, and getting smacked by some large road debris the helmet shows no signs of obvious wear.

REV'IT! Orlando H2O Jeans

The Orlando H2O keeps you protected from the elements as well as the road, thanks to a 100% waterproof membrane laminated to the poly cotton stretch denim 3L. Strategically placed PWR | shield adds abrasion resistance to critical impact zones, while the mesh liner wicks moisture away from your legs. The standard equipped CE-rated SEESMART knee protectors and the optional CE-rated Tryonic hip protectors (sold separately) provide the expected impact protection. The classic five-pocket, regular-cut Orlando H2O are so wearable, it's easy to forget they are high-tech, all-weather motorcycle jeans.

Cafe Racer Leather Jacket

No café racer project is complete without the requisite café racer jacket. To stir the pot at the get-go, let me say that what is generally referred to today as a café racer jacket preceded what has been defined as a café racer bike by at least a couple of decades. Although this article is about jackets, it is not about the history of motorcycle leathers. It is about whatever little I’ve learned that may help with selecting a jacket that may suit you and your machine in today’s cafe racer culture. I assume here, of course, that a vintage machine is best matched by a vintage jacket.  So, with that in mind and with due respect for personal preferences and all new quality jacket makers of today, I must rephrase my opening line.

No vintage café racer project is complete without the requisite vintage café racer jacket.

Scorpion Klaw II Men's Leather Street Motorcycle Gloves

The new scorpion Gloves Klaw II go a long way towards making sure that’s the case for riders looking to brave the cold. Durable, goatskin leather construction, TPU molded knuckle protection and Pre-curved palm and fingers give grip comfort. TPR molded finger protectors and Rib-stretch knuckle expansion panels provide flexibility.

Scorpion Gloves are some of the best-fitting gauntlets out there, but be sure to follow their measurement advice — a large-sized pair of gloves usually works, but in the Klaw IIs an XXL set is ideal.
